Say what you’d like about fathers. Unless you’re about to dis mine. Seriously. We were chatting on facebook (like most people do with their parents), and a challenge was born. Turn a (currently unfinished/unreleased) song that Jim and I recorded about two weeks ago into the exact opposite of the Simon-and-Garfunkel-esque old-folk lullaby music that it might be in its current state. Part of the challenge: the end result must be terrible and unlistenable. The great K.R. Lary rarely ever backs down from a challenge (especially a fun minimal-effort-required musical challenge). Unto us a child is given:
Isthmus and the Lisps will be kicking it LIVE in Newark DE from September 3, 2011 through September 5, 2011. For realz, I know this sounds like a scam but it isn’t. It will be non-stop. 42 Fairway Rd Apt 3D and other locations TBA. Any time, any day. FREE. ALL AGES. You can’t let an opportunity like this pass you by.
Jim is coming back state-side in December, and it seems that in January he’ll be moving down to DC for a couple years. Moral of the story: DC ain’t real far from DE (I mean there’s only DD between them… joke). But seriously: we’ll try to more actively churn out meaningless multimedia garbage for all of y’all… especially if we can manage to convince Ross to get involved.
You guessed it. We’ve got a live show coming up July 6th in Northampton MA at The Elevens. We’ve got Andy T, Isthmus and the Lisps, Mystery Band, and Kevin Lary. Show starts at 8:00 PM. For directions, look up the address or visit the club’s website. Should be a fun night. Come. Bring your friends. Bring your enemies. We don’t really care. 21+.
And if you can’t make it to THAT show:
We’re playing in Providence 8 days later. That looks like it’s going to be a house show, we’re just finalizing the apartment or space to graciously host it. All ages. BYOB.
It was too good a sentence not to write. We’re not playing music or doing anything there other than having some coffee. I assume the Silly Pillows (which is technically Jonathan but not Hilary) won’t be playing any music either, but that’s really not up to me. I guess if you’re curious about this gibberish (and you’re near Newark) you should schedule an elaborate (but phony) casual meeting or chance encounter.
If you have interest in using any of our works for any reason, or you would like to commission a song/audio recording for a multimedia project of any sort, please contact us at isthmusandthelisps@gmail.com We're generally pretty cool about that sort of thing.
